This week during our after school program, Step Up, students in cooking club created homemade meatballs and cooked spaghetti and sauce to make a nutritious and easy Family meal. Mrs. Schuchart started the club off with a demonstration on how to make garlic bread! Skills in action- learning for tomorrow's leaders!!

Ms. Gilmore is proud to announce that the James M. Bennett Clipper Marching Band & Color Guard won 1st place in their division at Delmarvacade on Saturday, as well as 2nd place overall in the Eastern Region. These students performed their field show, Resilience, and were awarded a score of 90.85. Saturday will be State Championships for the Clippers- let's wish them luck as they head into the final stretch!

Yesterday in Mrs. Schuchart's Period 1 World of Food Clipper time, students used their knowledge of measurement, nutrients and creativity to make individual protein balls. What a fun way to end our marking term and showcase what we learned in World of Food!
Recipes included quick oats, different flavors of chocolate chips, sun butter, honey or molasses, and optional items of flax seeds, raisins, nuts, and coconut flakes.

JMB fights Bullying Week wrapped up last Friday with students taking a Bullying Prevention Pop Quiz to show what they have learned last week. Throughout the week students took part in signing a pledge to fight against bullying, completing acts of kindness to win Bully Prevention Bingo, wearing Orange for Unity Day and testing their knowledge with a pop quiz. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the week a success. Let's continue to speak up and fight bullying each day.

Ms.Williams 1st period English 9 class participated in a book tasting to sample a selection of books before voting for their small group novels. It was set up cafe' style, with donuts and beverages for them to enjoy during the book tasting.

News from Wicomico County Public Schools:
The first Superintendent's Open Door Session of the 2025-2026 school year will take place from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29. Time with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer is on a first-come, first-served basis, at the school system's main office at 2424 Northgate Drive, Salisbury.
Reminders: The 1st marking term will end Thursday, Oct. 30. On Friday, Oct. 31, schools have a professional day for staff, and students do not attend.

Our school was identified for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) status based on the performance of our students with disabilities and English learner student groups. These groups did not meet the state's performance targets, necessitating additional, targeted support to address their specific learning needs and promote equitable academic outcomes for all students.
We remain fully committed to meeting the needs of each and every student here at James M. Bennett High School. Through intentional collaboration, data-driven instruction, and ongoing professional development, we will continue to work towards closing achievement gaps, strengthening supports, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
